In these busy times it is vital for you to Boost Your Mind Power. Everything today is more complex and new information is pouring into us from all sides. We have more things to remember and much to do, so the key is to "Remove the Struggle" from day to day living. It is critical to have systems that work and to reduce stress by Boosting Your Mind Power. Here are 10 Tips for Boosting Your Mind Power.
1. Use an organizer, like a Franklin Planner, Palm Pilot, or the calendar on you computer.
Schedule the things that are important to do or remember. Many of the electronic organizers have alarms, use them. Don't tax your memory, it's not necessary.
2. Create designated zones on your desk, in your office, and in your home.
An example: Your desktop may have a mail zone, a supply zone, a current projects zone, or whatever works for you. Put things in the zone that is appropriate and you will only have one place to look for what you need. This can be done for any area or space, but, it only works if you put things in their zone.
3. Use triggers.
A trigger is a way of linking tasks so that you will perform them automatically; one leads to the other. An example: I eat breakfast as a way to remind me to take my vitamins. I never used to eat breakfast, but eating in the morning reminds me to take my vitamins(which you should not take on an empty stomach) and it gives me fuel to start my day.
4. Pay attention.
It sounds simple but paying attention is the key to better communication, fewer mistakes, and it saves time.
5. Take your time.
Usually a few extra minutes are worth the time. Rushing causes mistakes, accidents, and things drop through the cracks. This goes hand-in-hand with paying attention. It's really about being conscious.
6. Delegate and prioritize.
Don't try to do everything or everything at once.
7. Set up routines that work.
Take a moment and think about the most efficient and effective way to do a task and make it a habit. Repeat what works. Streamline everything that you can.
8. Be a good steward of your mind, body, and spirit.
Eat well. Exercise. Meditate. Sleep. Take vacations (re-create). Don't overindulge in alcohol, caffeine, food, or anything that is harmful to your mind, body, or spirit.
9. Play mentally stimulating games.
Games can stimulate your mind and help to keep you mentally sharp. I love free cell (it's on most computers) because there is always a solution; there's no luck involved. It helps you learn to strategize. Often, if I am writing and get stuck, I will play free cell and then go back to writing. Games like chess, Go (a Chinese game), and word games are also great for mental gymnastics.
10. Determine the desired outcome and the purpose for a task.
Many tasks can be dismissed because they don't really fit into the bigger picture, of course you must have a bigger picture. Some tasks are just busy work. By determining the outcome that you desire and the purpose of a task, the steps become clear. When you can see it, everything that is necessary for it to come to fruition is inherent in the vision. Stop doing things that are not leading you where you want to be.
