The Top 10 Questions To Ask At A Networking Meeting

It's not always easy being an introvert and a business owner! Even though most introverts are good socializing one-on-one, in order to become "known," networking with other business owners is, in my opinion, a marketing must.

Being known locally, even if you have a virtual business, is something every business owner must do. Even the Internet Guru's attend networking meetings and speak to groups as a way to market their online business.

Remember, when you network, it's about getting to know "them" that's important at first meetings. Don't just give out your cards like you didn't pay for them; the main thing really is to get the other person's card (if you truly want it), and then contact them afterwards.

On the other side of the coin, the basic questions (and their answer) below are imperative for every business owner to have concrete answers to also - especially introverts! If you don't know the answers to these questions yourself, make sure that your speak with your business coach or business consultant about creating them.

Below are 10 questions you can ask, as you stand in a room that's set up for you to specifically to network. They of course are not "all" the questions you can ask, but they'll get you started.

  1. Tell me about your company.
  2. How long have you been in business? How long have you been doing "x"?
  3. What do you like most about your business? Like least?
  4. Where do your clients live?
  5. What do your clients accomplish by working with you that makes you different from your competitors?
  6. May I have your business card?
  7. What can I do to help your business grow?
  8. Who is your ideal client?
  9. So that I know who is a good referral for you, what would I hear your ideal client say?
  10. What is the best way to refer someone to you? Do you have a specific process?
